Cory first entered the tech industry in 2004, joining zu as a young developer and rapidly gaining understanding of multiple languages, including PHP, Python, Java, Objective-C, and Go. After a five-year tour of duty, Cory returned to zu in 2014 for the culture, the team environment, and the depth of technical knowledge that zu’s project require.
Cory may be “Princess Daddy” at home, but at the office he’s known as Technical Lead. In this position, he advises on everything from incoming work to deploying final builds for clients. Cory is passionate about the nitty gritty details that contribute to making a system hum, and as a result, is always the one to find solutions to problems. A technical and insightful storyteller, Cory has presented at various events and workshops, including Prairie Dev Con, MoSo Conference and Barcamp Saskatoon.
One of Cory’s most notable achievements at zu was his development of the TimmyMe mobile app, complete with GPS-based navigation to the nearest Tim Hortons and notepad for coffee runs. The app quickly became the top downloaded free iPhone app in Canada, and was later adopted by Tim Hortons as their official mobile application.
A family man and self-proclaimed nature nut, Cory powers down after work and can be found living off the land, pursuing his dream of ostrich farming.
