What do decoupling content management systems and eukaryotic molecular genetics have in common? You’ll have to ask Matt. With degrees in Computer Science and Cellular Biology, Matt is as diverse as they come. Unable to live up to his dream of becoming the next Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Matt came to zu as an intern in 2013 and never left.

Working with a wide range of technologies, languages, and management systems on a day-to-day basis, Matt is highly adaptable and is able to step back to see the bigger picture. He has worked on projects with clients such as Canadian Lentils, City of Saskatoon, DirectWest, Great Plains College, and AltaGas, assisting in the strategy and execution of front- and back-end development. Matt passes on this perfectly honed skill set to participants in Ladies Learning Code, a program designed to give women access to technical training and support, as well as through guest lectures at the University of Saskatchewan.

Matt is constantly seeking new knowledge. In his own words: “I like to work closely with our designers to craft beautiful, engaging, and intuitive web pages and apps that are also blazingly fast. Everyday I’m surfing the web or asking coworkers for new ideas, new techniques, or new technologies to use to help improve our work. How can we be more fluid? How can we be faster? How can we be better?!”

Make time in your schedule if you plan on bringing up the subject of music, because Matt’s album collection is as eclectic as it is extensive. While you’re at it, ask to see his 1967 commemorative NBA All Star slurpee cup collection - you’re sure to be impressed.
